            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Friday night means Hardball HotShots time! Tonight, it's a special edition of
the HotShots, as MSNBC Chief Washington Correspondent Norah O'Donnell sits in
for Chris and welcomes MSNBC hosts Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough along
with MSNBC Political Analyst Craig Crawford. They'll run through the highs and
lows of the week, including gas prices and the president's poll numbers (guess
which is which). The HotShots also will ponder Karl Rove's new strictly
political duties, race in Saturday's New Orleans mayoral race, Defense
Secretary Don Rumsfeld's war of words, and who's in and who's out with the
Republican Right.

Check out today's New York Times piece hinting that Harriet Miers might be the
next to go: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/21/washington/21bush.html.

And the Washington Post watches the blame game over the gas pumps:

Dr. Sue Bailey, MSNBC analyst and former assistant defense secretary for health
affairs, will join Norah tonight to talk about the bird flu threat. Catch a
sneak preview of this Sunday's Dateline NBC special called "Outbreak: Could It
Happen Here?" on MSNBC.com: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12411009/

Also tonight, Norah will talk about the week that was at the White House --
full of changing staff and diplomatic gaffes -- with Bob Shrum, Hardball
political analyst, and Kate O'Beirne, Washington editor for the National Review
and Hardball political analyst.
