The Senate and House are back in town, the president is headed back from the
west coast, and Hardball is coming back to you this week with more on rising
gas prices, falling presidential polls, and volleying illegal immigration
plans. Tonight on Hardball, NBC Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory
fills in for Chris and welcomes Rep. Marty Meehan (D-MA) and Rep. Marsha
Blackburn (R-TN) to talk about the politics at the pump.
Will their be an investigation into allegations of price-gouging? Can (and
should) Congress do something about the cost of filling up your tank? In case
you didn't hear, House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) and Senate Majority Leader
Bill Frist (R-TN) sent a letter to President Bush today asking him to have the
Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission look into price-gouging.
