The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Will the Senate vote to confirm President Bush's pick to run the CIA? Air Force
Gen. Michael Hayden, the former head of the NSA, has been making the rounds on
Capitol Hill to meet with the senators who will decide. But, in a break from
traditional donkey-elephant combat, the fight appears to be shaping up as one
among Republicans. Tonight on Hardball, Chris will talk with two of them. Sen.
Kit Bond (R-MO) and Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), both members of the Senate
Select Committee on Intelligence, will be here to talk about their individual
meetings with Hayden and their panel's upcoming hearing to decide his fate.
Bond has said that Hayden is "more than qualified" for the job, but Chambliss
has raised concerns. Here's the latest from NBC:

Also tonight, Hardball Correspondent David Shuster will take a look at the pile
of scandals and investigations growing each day in the capital. >From the Jack
Abramoff mess to the CIA leak probe, there is no shortage of primetime worthy
drama. Kate O'Beirne, Hardball political analyst and Washington editor for the
National Review, and Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson will be here to
talk about that as well as the politics of the Hayden nomination. Check out
Robinson's column today on the CIA:

Plus, former Clinton Administration Sec. of State Madeleine Albright, author of
"The Mighty and the Almighty," will be here to talk about religion, foreign
affairs, and how the two are impacting the future of the globe.
And for the latest on the hottest races in Decision 2006, Republican strategist
Ed Rollins and Democratic strategist Steve McMahon, will join Chris to talk
about the Democrats' high hopes, the Republicans' strategy, and the Bush
Administration's hand in the fight for power on Capitol Hill.
