            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
The temperature isn't the only thing sizzling here in Washington. Tonight,
we'll hit all the hot news of the week before you head out for the weekend.

First up, the Haditha investigation. Joining Norah O'Donnell for Hardball this
evening is Marine Corps veteran Paul Hackett, who is representing Capt. James
Kimber. Kimber was publicly named in the Haditha investigation in the Time
Magazine report, but claims he was not in the city on November 19th, the day
about two dozen Iraqi men, women and children were killed.

Then, fighting an insurgent war in Iraq: Are there other Hadithas? Iraq
veteran and author of "Chasing Ghosts" Paul Rieckhoff and Gary Solis, former
Chief of the Military Law Branch at the U.S. Marine Corps, will give us their
insights on the investigation. Reickhoff is also the Executive Director of
IAVA: Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

Next up, a Hardball preview of the New Hampshire Democratic State Convention -
MSNBC.com's Tom Curry will join us live from Manchester, NH for a look ahead to
the '08 election. Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold and Virginia Gov. Mark Warner
are slated to speak. What do they hope to accomplish this weekend, and in the
future? What about Hillary? We'll find out what Democratic loyalists are
saying. For all your political news, go to Hardball.MSNBC.com.

And if it's Friday, it's the Hardball Hotshots. Coming up tonight: More on the
Haditha investigation. What price will the country pay for the alleged
massacre of civilians by U.S. Marines? Here at home, anti-terror funds in New
York and DC are slashed. What's going on with the Homeland Security
Department? And what's behind closed doors - should we protect Congress from
office raids? Plus, the political cost of the war in Iraq. According to a new
Quinnipiac poll, 34% of voters say Bush is the worst President in 61 years; 43%
cite Iraq as the reason. We'll hash out the biggest news of the week with
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, Bloomberg columnist Margaret Carlson and MSNBC
Political Analyst and Hardblogger All Star Craig Crawford.

Stay in the loop this weekend, be sure to tune in to MSNBC and log on to
MSNBC.com for all the latest news you need to know.

We'll see you back for Monday's Hardball. Chris Matthews will be live from
Boston with Jack Welch, former GE CEO and author of "Straight from the Gut" and
"Winning."
