            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

The war over the war presses on. Today, the House of Representatives passed a
measure affirming a commitment to victory in fighting terrorism that also
included a rejection of a timetable for pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq. The
debate was heated with Democrats calling it nothing more than a political stunt
for Decision 2006. Republicans charged the opposition with being reluctant to
support the troops. Was the debate something that will help Republicans or
Democrats or neither party? Here's a recap from the AP:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13338901/.

Tonight on Hardball, NBC News Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory
sits in for Chris and talks with Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) and Rep. Louie Gohmert
(R-TX) about today's debate and how it will factor into Election Day less than
five months away. Hardball's David Shuster will report on the war of words on
the House floor and what Democrats are (and aren't) saying for their election
year agenda.

Also tonight, Tim Russert, moderator of NBC's "Meet the Press" and author of
"Wisdom of Our Fathers," will be here. David will talk with Tim about the war
debate, President Bush's public relations offensive on Iraq, and much more! The
Father's Day edition of "Meet the Press" this Sunday features Rep. Jack Murtha
(D-PA). Find out more here: http://mtp.msnnbc.com.

And, that's right, it's Friday and that means it's time for the Hardball
HotShots! This week, David welcomes Norah O'Donnell, MSNBC's chief Washington
correspondent, John Fund, columnist for OpinionJournal.com, and Mike Barnicle,
columnist for the Boston Herald. Which party will be helped more by a political
fight over Iraq? What is Vice President Cheney adding to the Iraq debate this
week? The HotShots will take it all on!
