The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
More violence in the Middle East today as Lebanon and Israel were struck with
repeated air strikes earlier. Tonight we'll hear reports from our NBC team
across the region, including Richard Engel in Tyre, Tom Aspell in Haifa, Andrea
Mitchell with Secretary Rice, and Tucker Carlson in Beirut.
Today President Bush held a joint press availability with the Iraqi Prime
Minister and called for more American troops to deploy to Baghdad to embed with
Iraqi police. NBC's Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory will have
more on that announcement from the White House.
Tomorrow, the Iraqi Prime Minister will speak before a joint meeting of
Congress. Some Democrats are critical of his appearance and signing on to a
letter to Speaker Dennis Hastert in protest of tomorrow's address. Tonight on
Hardball, one co-author, Rep. Janice Schakowsky (D-IL), will join us to voice
her concerns and she will be joined by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), a staunch
defender of Prime Minister Maliki.
Reverend Al Sharpton and Michael Evans, Founder of the Jerusalem Prayer Team,
will debate whether Israel's strike on Lebanon has been disproportionate.
And the Washington Post's Tom Ricks will discuss the lead up to the war in Iraq.
