The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Hardball we'll continue to bring you the latest on the fighting in
the Middle East, which was the deadliest day in Israel since the conflict
started. We'll have live reports from NBC's Richard Engel from Tyre, Lebanon
and MSNBC's Tucker Carlson in Beirut. Iraq's Prime Minister paid his first
visit to Washington and spoke before a joint meeting of Congress. David
Shuster will have more on the address.
Senator John Warner, (R-VA), Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, traveled
with President Bush and Prime Minister Maliki today to Fort Belvoir in Virginia
to visit troops. He'll be here to discuss the latest in the war on terror and
the conflict in the Middle East.
For the 2006 political implications of the war in Iraq and the fighting in the
Middle East, we'll turn to Newsweek's Chief Political Correspondent Howard
Fineman and WashingtonPost.com reporter Chris Cillizza.
Our Hardballers for tonight, Bush 41 Advisor Ed Rogers and MSNBC Contributor
Mike Barnicle, will look at how the Middle East crisis may help or hurt
Democrats and Republicans, and the controversy over Maliki's address to
Congress today.
Should Congress have called for restraint against civilians in the Middle East
last week? YES, says Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), a Lebanese American, and NO,
says Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY). We'll have the debate.
Be sure to stay tuned for Hardball at 7pm tonight when The Wall Street
Journal's John Harwood has results of the NBC News / Wall Street Journal poll
out this evening.
