            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

It's the last big primary day for Decision 2006 with just 56 days to go until
Election Day. On Hardball tonight live at 5 & 7 p.m. Eastern, Chris will have
all the news and developments in today's primary contests -- and the rest of
the states that will determine who controls Congress next year. The battle for
control of Congress rages on, and today all eyes are on Rhode Island for the
GOP primary contest between Senator Lincoln Chafee and Cranston Mayor Steve
Laffey. Can Chafee survive his primary? If he wins today, can he survive again
in November against Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse? MSNBC.com's Tom Curry reports
from Rhode Island: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14788974.

By the way, be sure to bookmark http://politics.msnbc.com as your best resource

of the Republican Main Street Partnership, will be here to talk about Rhode
Island's U.S. Senate race. Toomey's group is backing Laffey, while Boehlert's
colleagues support Chafee. MSNBC.com's Tom Curry and Brown University Professor
Darrell West also will talk with Chris from Rhode Island about today's race.

Also tonight, Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-NY), chairman of the National Republican
Congressional Committee, will talk with Chris about what he's doing to protect
