            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Today on MSNBC we brought you some of the hottest names in politics: Mehlman.
Dean. DeLay. Dole. Murtha. DeWine. Brown. Whitehouse. Matalin. And tonight on
two editions of Hardball, MSNBC's "Battleground America: The Homestretch,"
we'll bring you even more.

At 5pm, we'll kick things off with MSNBC's chief Washington correspondent Norah
O'Donnell, live with Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN) in Tennessee, where Ford is
fighting a tight Senate race with Republican Bob Corker. (Read more on Ford
and his political family here:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15366095/site/newsweek/.)

We'll also be joined by White House Press Secretary Tony Snow for the Bush
administration's hopes for midterms and the war in Iraq.

For political analysis, we'll turn to Democratic strategist and Hardblogger
All-Star Hilary Rosen and Ed Rogers, a former Bush 41 aide. We'll ask about
Bush, Iraq, and what Democrats and Republicans need to do to win on November 7.
Read Hilary Rosen's latest blog, plus blogs from NBC News and MSNBC anchors
and correspondents reporting from the hottest battleground states today, here:

MSNBC political analyst and Newsweek chief political correspondent Howard
Fineman and author of Washingtonpost.com's "The Fix" Chris Cillizza will have
the latest reporting on all the hot races and where candidates stand in the
polls.

Earlier today Joe Scarborough interviewed Democratic candidate Clarie McCaskill
in Missouri. Tonight, Chris will hear from her opponent, incumbent Sen. Jim
Talent (R-MO).

At 7pm, we'll go live to Philadelphia to hear from Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA),
facing an uphill battle for reelection against challenger Bob Casey, who spoke
with NBC's Lisa Daniels earlier. A new MSNBC-McClatchy poll shows Santorum
trailing Casey 51 to 39 percent. For full poll results, check out
politics.msnbc.com.

Plus, MSNBC contributor Mike Barnicle will be here with a report on the race
for governor in Massachusetts. And we've lined up a great group of Hardballers
tonight, including MSNBC political analysts Pat Buchanan and Ron Reagan, radio
talk show host Michael Smerconish, and the New York Times' Bob Herbert.

Rocked by scandal, Ohio is one of the hottest battlegrounds this election
season. Hardball correspondent David Shuster will be live from Ohio State
University to tell us what issues matter to voters in the Buckeye State. And in
California we'll hear from George Lewis covering the Governor's race, and
Jennifer London following the Internet's influence in politics.

Hardball's Jeremy Bronson reported on how campaigns across the country are
using parody political websites to bludgeon their opponents. Click here to
