            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
In a news conference this morning, President Bush said: "I know many Americans
are not satisfied with the situation in Iraq. I'm not satisfied either."
Tonight on Hardball, we'll begin with a complete report on Bush's comments from
Hardball Correspondent David Shuster. Then from the East Room of the White
House to Baghdad, NBC's Jane Arraf will be here for Hardball's daily
Battleground Iraq briefing. We'll also be joined by the number two Democrat in
the Senate, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL). Back from a recent trip to Iraq, we'll
hear his thoughts on Bush's remarks today on the war, the midterm elections and
his colleague from Illinois -- and possible 2008 presidential candidate -- Sen.
Barack Obama (D-IL). Get the latest on Bush and Iraq from the AP here
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15411631/. And for more analysis on Iraq we'll
bring in Rajiv Chandrasekaran, Washington Post Assistant Managing Editor and
author of "Imperial Life in the Emerald City," (http://www.rajivc.com/) and
MSNBC Military Analyst General Bernard Trainor (Ret.).

Then, John Harris from the Washington Post, co-author of "The Way to Win:
Taking the White House in 2008," (www.thewaytowin2008.com) and The Hill's A.B.
Stoddard will be here to talk Decision 2006, today's presidential press
conference and Iraq. We'll also take a look at some controversial new
political ads raising eyebrows and outcries from both sides of the aisle,
including one for Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) showing his Democratic opponent Bob
Casey Jr. next to a mushroom cloud. For more ads, read the Washington Post on
Rush Limbaugh vs. Michael J. Fox in an ad for Claire McCaskill

And lastly, we'll bring in our Hardballers to hash it all out. Democratic
strategist Kiki McLean and Ron Christie, former aide to President Bush will
join us for the fight over control for power in November.

MSNBC's "Battleground America: The Homestretch" all-day political coverage on
Tuesday was smokin' hot. Click here for all the stories, blogs and video

Plus later this week on Hardball, don't miss Chris' interview with
controversial county music stars the Dixie Chicks. The outspoken anti-war
activists took flak from across the country after speaking out against
President Bush and the war in Iraq. They'll talk to Chris about their new
documentary "Shut Up and Sing."
