            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
With just over one week left before Decision 2006, it's getting rough out
there. Tonight on Hardball, we'll begin with a report from Hardball
Correspondent David Shuster on the barrage of negative campaign ads and
personal attacks between candidates. Then we'll hear from Steve Jarding, chief
political advisor to Jim Webb, the Democratic challenger to Sen. George Allen
(R) in Virginia, one of the most bitterly contested races.

For more on the Virginia Senate race we'll be joined by Ron Fournier,
Co-founder of HOTSOUP.com, (check out the exciting new online community here
http://www.hotsoup.com/) and John Harwood, CNBC Chief Political Correspondent
and Wall Street Journal Political Editor, who will also have a full report on
the Montana senate race.

Then a special inside look at Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the California
gubernatorial race from NBC's Tom Brokaw. For more talk on California, and all
the hottest Senate and House races, we'll bring back Fournier and Harwood.
Tavis Smiley, host of PBS's "Tavis Smiley Show" and author of "What I Know for
Sure" will also join the mix to talk about Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN), Sen.
Barack Obama (D-IL) and the effect these two influential Congressmen will have
on Decision 2006.

NBC's Jane Arraf will join us from Baghdad for Hardball's daily Battleground
Iraq briefing. Today the Washington Post reports that October will be the
deadliest month for the U.S. in Iraq since November 2004, with 92 American
troops killed
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/27/AR2006102700401.html.
With so much bloodshed, what role will Iraq play when Americans head to the
voting booths on November 7? We'll talk to former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-NE).

Next week, it's all politics all the time on MSNBC! Beginning Monday, we'll
have a full week of all-day political coverage with the biggest NBC names
counting down to Election Day. Brian Williams, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert,
Campbell Brown, Joe Scarborough, Lester Holt, Tucker Carlson, Andrea Mitchell,
and David Gregory, they'll all be here. MSNBC's Chief Washington Correspondent
Norah O'Donnell kicks things off at 9 AM with House Majority Leader John
Boehner (R-OH). Plus, look for a special report from Hardball's Jeremy Bronson
on political Google-bombing. Never heard of Google-bombing? Tune in on Monday
to learn what it's all about.
