            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
When MSNBC says we do politics, we mean it! Tonight, Hardball heads to the
Hill for a show jam-packed with the hottest names in politics, including
today's winner, incoming House majority leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD). Join
Chris live at 5 and 7 PM ET from the Cannon House Office Building on Capitol
Hill where earlier today Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was officially nominated to
become speaker of the House and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) overtook Rep. John
Murtha (D-PA) for the role of House majority leader. Go to
www.politics.msnbc.com for the latest.

First up tonight, Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) sits down with Chris to talk about
his win today. Then NBC's Mike Viqueira reports on the new Democratic House
leadership. Will the Pelosi/Murtha/Hoyer power fight do lasting damage to the
party? We'll get reaction on today's vote from Murtha supporter and House
Appropriations Committee member Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-PA) and Hoyer supporter
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). Read MSNBC's Tom Curry on Pelosi's next challenge
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15741999/. And for more on the Hoyer vs. Murtha
contest and what should be at the top of the Democratic agenda we'll be joined
later in the show by Rep. Allen Boyd (D-FL), leader of the Blue Dog Coalition.

may be the key to success in Congress http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15751798/.

The next big vote on the Hill happens tomorrow as House Republicans choose
their Leader and party Whip. Current Whip Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO) is being
challenged by Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ). Earlier today Chris Matthews
interviewed Rep. Shadegg, and tonight he'll talk to Blunt about his race, the
GOP's upcoming minority status and the new Dem leadership team of Pelosi/Hoyer.

Then we'll continue the discussion on the new Congress, the incoming leadership
and the expanding field of possible '08 contenders with Al Franken, author of
"The Truth (with Jokes)," and John Fund from OpinionJournal.com, and later in
the show, former NY Congresswoman Susan Molinari (R) and Democratic strategist
Hilary Rosen.

Tomorrow, catch Chris live on MSNBC at 3 PM ET and on Hardball at 5 and 7 PM
ET.
