over Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), while Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO) held on to his 
position as party Whip, defeating Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ).  Also today, Robert 
Gates, the President's choice to replace outgoing Defense Secretary Donald
