The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight, live from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - home of
the Tar Heels - 2004 Democratic vice presidential candidate and former Sen.
John Edwards (D-NC) plays Hardball! Join us at 5 and 7 PM ET, as Chris asks
the potential '08 presidential contender about Iraq, the search for a new
strategy there, and what he would do if he was making decisions in the White
House.
Today, President Bush continued his review of Iraq options, meeting with Tariq
al-Hashemi, Iraq's Sunni vice president (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16167831/).
Since the war began, 2,933 U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq, 34 since the
ISG report was released. Meanwhile, President Bush announced today that he will
not change his strategy in Iraq until early January. Should he wait? In a new
Washington Post/ABC poll released today, 7 out of 10 Americans disapprove of
the way the war in Iraq is being handled
(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/12/AR2006121200278.html).

And the '08 presidential pool continues to deepen. Today, Rep. Dennis Kucinich
(D-OH) announced his plan for an '08 bid
(http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2006/12/12/20012.aspx). Will John
Edwards be next? What does he think about the other big names - Clinton,
Obama, Giuliani?
Plus, we'll end the show with special guest: Elizabeth Edwards, author of
"Saving Graces" (www.elizabethedwardsbook.com).
