The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight, Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD) is recovering from emergency brain surgery
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16199440/). As Capitol Hill awaits more word on
the Senator's condition, a new question is raised: with a 51-49 split in the
Senate, could Democrats lose the control they just won? Hardball Correspondent
David Shuster will be here with a full report followed by NBC's Chip Reid with
the latest from Capitol Hill. We'll also be joined by David Gergen from US
News & World Report and the JFK School of Government at Harvard University.
Then, the situation in Iraq continues to deteriorate. After a meeting with the
President on Tuesday, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the U.S. needs to
begin supporting Iraqi troops and hunting terrorists rather than battling
insurgents (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16195925/). MSNBC Political Analyst
Pat Buchanan and Democratic Strategist Mark Green will be here to talk about
that and the President's decision to delay an announcement on new strategy.
We'll continue that discussion with Lt. Col. Rick Francona (Ret.).
Go to www.politics.msnbc.com for the latest on these stories and all of today's
political news.
Later in the show, to parse through all of the big news of the week, we'll hear
from NBC's Mike Viqueira, Washington Times Editorial Page Editor Tony Blankley
and Jim Warren editor of the Chicago Tribune.
And we just wrapped the last edition of the Hardball College Tour for 2006 from
George Mason University in Virginia...tune in Monday to catch Chris with Robert
De Niro and Matt Damon, Academy Award winners and stars of the new movie "The
Good Shepherd."
