            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Today, the attorney for former Ambassador Joe Wilson was admonished by a
federal judge for her appearance on Hardball Wednesday night
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16313872/). Melanie Sloan was here to talk about
why Wilson is trying to avoid testifying for the defense in the trial of
Scooter Libby, former chief of staff to VP Dick Cheney. Hardball Correspondent
David Shuster will be here with a full report, and for more on the broil over
Sloan's comments we'll be joined by Newsweek's Mike Isikoff, author of
"Hubris," and Scott Fredericksen, former associate independent counsel and U.S.
attorney.

Then, will the new year bring a new strategy for Iraq? Defense Secretary
Robert Gates spent a second day meeting with top military commanders there.
While an increase in active troops in the war zone is possible, Gates said that
talks were in "broader terms" and "did not include numbers"
David Gergen, former presidential adviser and US News & World Report
editor-at-large, and MSNBC Political Analyst Pat Buchanan will be here to talk
about the latest in Iraq, plus what's happening in the fight for '08.

And, is a power struggle brewing inside the parties? We'll hear from Tony
Blankey of the Washington Times and Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times on
Obama, Clinton, McCain, Pelosi and all the major players. Read the latest from
Blankley and Sweet here: (http://washingtontimes.com/op-ed/tblankley.htm)
