            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) plays Hardball. Hagel, a possible '08
contender, called the president's Iraq strategy "the most dangerous foreign
policy blunder in this country since Vietnam." Now he's joined leading
Democratic senators co-sponsoring a resolution opposing Bush's plans for a
troop surge in Iraq (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11457525/). Will other
Republicans follow Hagel's lead? We'll talk about the battle brewing between
Congress and the White House with Hardball Political Analyst Bob Shrum and
former Rep. Vin Weber (R-MN), now with the Romney campaign. Plus, more later
in the show with a report from NBC's Mike Viquiera on Capitol Hill and Reps.
Tim Walz (D-MN) and Duncan Hunter (R-CA), who's also running for president.

confidant and former chief of staff Scooter Libby
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16668211/). Hardball Correspondent David Shuster
has been reporting from the courthouse and he'll fill us in.

And, the Washington Post's Lois Romano, Time's Jay Carney and the Chicago
Tribune's Jim Warren will dig into all the big news of the day as only the
Hardballers can.
