The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
First up - powerful promises from the campaign trail!
With just 22 days to go until Election Day, both presidential candidates hit
the campaign trail with new speeches. John McCain attended rallies in Virginia
and North Carolina acknowledging that he's down in the polls but far from out.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama unveiled a new economic plan in a speech in Toledo,
Ohio. While Obama leads McCain by 10 points in the new Washington Post-ABC News
poll, there are several swing states still up for grabs. Will McCain's change
in rhetoric change the minds of voters? Or will Obama's newest plan to rescue
the middle class be enough to secure his lead?
We'll get an in-depth look at this and more with NBC News Political Director
Chuck Todd and Politico's Roger Simon.

And name that veep! Since Sarah Palin was named to the Republican ticket, it
sometimes seems as if Joe Biden has become the forgotten man in the race. Host
Chris Matthews sat down with Sen. Biden yesterday after a rally in Scranton,
Pennsylvania, and talked about the McCain campaign's harsh rhetoric last week.
Be sure to tune in for the highlights.

candidates say to voters and to each other in their final head-to-head? We'll
talk with Tom Brokaw who moderated the previous debate and get his take on
state of the '08 race.
