The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
First up: voters of the world unite!
After spending more than a week making the charge that Barack Obama is close
to, is friendly with or maybe even sympathetic to terrorists, the McCain-Palin
campaign is trying to pin another disqualifying tag on him: socialist. Tonight
we'll get reaction from McCain supporter, former Gov. Tom Ridge (R-PA), and
Obama supporter, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN).

Next - Gen. Powell's endorsement certainly has everyone talking. The cover of
today's New York Daily News, is "Pow! Bam!" The Drudge Report called Powell a
"Weapon of Mass Defection." The fact that most newspapers are endorsing Obama
isn't necessarily news, but some are backing a Democrat for the first time.
Tonight we'll talk to one conservative columnist who's endorsing Obama. He's
one of our regulars here on "Hardball" - Michael Smerconish. We'll ask him why
he's made the leap.

Also, with 15 days left till Election Day, we're keeping a close eye on the
electoral map. Can Obama win traditional Republican states like West Virginia?
Is McCain's margin of victory narrowing? Democratic strategist Steve McMahon
and Republican strategist Todd Harris will be on to talk about the race to 270
electoral votes.
And in the Politics Fix, we'll break down today's headlines with Newsweek's
Howard Fineman and Washington Post columnist Perry Bacon.
Tune in to MSNBC tonight at 5 pm and 7 pm ET.
