The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
First up: the Big Guns hit the trail!
It's getting down to the wire and the presidential candidates are hitting the
battleground states today. Al Gore is campaigning for Sen. Obama in Florida,
while Obama is out campaigning in Iowa and Indiana. Sen. McCain has spent the
entire day in Ohio, where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will join him. Then
tomorrow, McCain is off to Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Tonight we'll bring Obama supporter, Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and McCain
supporter, Fmr. Governor Bob Ehrlich (R-MD) to discuss.
In the new CBS/N.Y. Times poll, 59% say Sarah Palin is not ready to be Vice
President. This is a nine-point increase from the beginning of the month. Is
Palin dragging down McCain in the final days of this campaign? Find out what
MSNBC Political Analysts Pat Buchanan and Michelle Bernard, and BET's Jeff
Johnson have to say about this.
In tonight's Hardball Sideshow, see what happens when our own Willie Geist
searches for McCain supporters in New York City's liberal Upper West Side
neighborhood. Don't miss it!
Plus, Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha has become a national figure in
recent years, because of his opposition to the Iraq war and his comments about
his own constituents. We'll talk with him later about the presidential election
and his battle to keep his House seat.
Then in the Politics Fix, with just one more weekend left in the race, what's
the endgame for the Obama and McCain campaigns? How will they make these last
hours matter? Hardball Strategists Steve McMahon and Todd Harris will discuss.
