VISTA COMMUNITY MEETING PLANNING:
Rick, updated the Community about future VistA Community Meetings.
Probably have two general meetings per year with smaller. One
in April in the central/western region of the US and another in Oct in
the DC metro area. Community agreed of the previous call that a $40 fee
would be initiated for these events to cover cost and potentially
renting out facilities as the Community grows.
Smaller technical (project/programming) meetings would be help
seperately to keep focused on the "special projects."
Virtual meetings could be organized. Bhaskar and Rainwater both
have volunteered for this effort.
Action Item: Rick to work on identifying new site for April meeting
Action Item2: Bhaskar and Rainwater to identify tool for virtual
meetings
MEMBERSHIP:
There were approximately 40 individuals who signed up for
membership during the Greenbelt meeting. Membership site still not up.
Waiting to complete
Action Item1: Rick to provide launch date.
ORGANIZATIONAL PLAN:
Rick updated the call that he had taken away a lot of great
information from the Greenbelt meeting and that he is working on the
organizational plan that will be simplified.
Action Item: Rick to provide a copy on the website in 1 week.
OPENFORUM:
David talked about OpenForum. Individuals who have already
signed up for membership, should be receiving an email to confirm their
automatic inclusion in OpenForum. Please let David Whitten know if you
have not received notification. He can we contacted

FOIA REQUEST:
David suggested that the Community have a project to identify
what material can be FOIA'ed from the VA that is of interest to the
Community.
Action: Looking for volunteers. Please contract David Whitten:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT MATERIAL:
General discussion about the importance of methodology and project
management in the Community. Claudine has offered generic templates
that need to be customized for software development projects. She cited
that it is more important to identify which methodology the Community
will follow prior to honing the process. Configuration and change
management were identified by all as critical in making OpenVista
supportable.
Action Item: Claudine will send zip files of generics to David Whitten
for posting on the WorldVista website.
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
Tom Akerman brought up that he is currently at a conference and
that we should develop a PR campaign to get the word out about VistA.
Action Item: Tom to collect information and present back to Community
FUNDING:
Maury brought up as our final discussion, funding. He stated
that there is a strong reliance on vendors helping WorldVista fund new
projects. Claudine stated that the IP issue must be resolved before a
number of vendors will provide resources. Rick suggested that next
weeks call on projects be focused on the IP issue. Claudine asked that
Barbara Boykin, the Chairman of VSA be notified given she represents a
trade organization of vendors for VistA.
Action: Claudine to ask Barbara and other vendors to be on the call next
week.
NEXT MEETING:
1) General community calls will now be on 1st and 3rd Friday of each
month. (Nov 5, 19)
2) Project calls on 2nd, 4th & 5th Fridays. (Nov 12 and 26) Suggest
that given the 26 is the day after Thanksgiving this be cancelled.
