Having looked quickly at this site and being aware of the reference to the
FDA model for medical devices, the WV project teams that develop their
configurations using best recommended practices and clearly document the
configuration capability conformance to both conceptual content as well as
implementing technology standards, will have an advantage in attaining
certification, if the early statements in the site minutes are any indication.
Nancy Anthracite is in a clear position to get the WV produced
configurations positioned to meet these conditions. Both WV Project teams
and education/training activities will be important and must be
complementary, consistent and and coordinated with with the standards
developers (SDOs). Not only HL7 but also all other SDOs must be used in
the documentation that may go beyond that released FOIA by the VA but
active effort to coordinate with with the federal healthcare organizations'
efforts at documentation and certification must persist. The organization
plan for WV to document these steps needs to appear quickly, even if
spartan form in ordee to begin the outreach to the various professional
discilpines and organizations involved.
