<SOAPBOX>

This note is followed by a press release I just received which has a few
interesting things:

1. Kaiser is out there touting their medical records system, which as I
recall, is written in that OLD, OUT OF DATE language called M, right?

2 .The Physicians Electronic Health Record Coalition co-chairs are running
from conference to conference telling physicians about incentives for
implementing medical records, probably some of the same stuff you can hear
during this audioconference, but I can't seem to find their web site that
just tells docs that information online.

3. I see those educators I sent Hardhats an email about a while back, the
ones providing those certifications (Certification Certified Professional in
Electronic Health Records (CPEHR) and Certified Professional in Health
Information Technology (CPHIT) EHR) that take a few DAYS and a lot of
MONEY to get, have a 4 hour session.

We are missing the boat. Wanna bet not one word gets said about M for
the Kaiser session and not one word get said about VistA during the latter
two?

VistA Alliance, take note. Have you got the corporate clout to try to get
some of your folks out there in these conference line-ups? Go out and tell
docs about how you are installing VistA and solving problems in the name of
"Education of the Physician about Implementing Electronic Medical Records."
IF your installations are Open Source, you should blow these guys out of the
water! Even if your installations aren't Open Source, you will at least raise
VistA's profile.

Hopefully, when VistA-Office comes out, some of those involved in the project
from CMS will be on the road telling every one at these educational sessions
all about it.
