I am running RH 9. I thought it would be a good, stable version of Linux for my server. And it has served me well. The only problem was when I wanted to add a DVD burner, it wasn't as slick as I would want. I ended up not being able to use it. I'm sure Mark could have fixed it, but I found another solution.
So the only reason that I can see to use the latest distros is if you have hardware support issues, or if you want commercial support.
