Since the state file has a lookup on state abreviations, will a pointer field to the state file not lookup the state given the abbreviation? If the field pointing to the state file is a pointer datatype ( which it will be if it points to a file) and the lookup value is contained in a lookup xref, then lookup may be available using values in the xref.

If you want to an option to perform lookup by abbreviation only, I'd make tthe necessary change in code rather than in the DD. --- "Hay, James (DHS-CMS)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > The node George references should prbably appear as George indicates. > The manner in which you define the screening logic (node's argument) > should probably be made through fileman option 4 (modify file > attributes). > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of > Madhavi Bagepalli > Sent: Friday, June 17, 2005 6:52 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [Hardhats-members] look up not working for STATE file > > Hi George, > > I could not find the information in the link you suggested I look at. > Could > you advice me on where I should be looking? > > Thanks, > Madhavi > >From: "George Timson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > >Reply-To: [email protected] > >To: "Hardhats" <[email protected]> > >Subject: RE: [Hardhats-members] look up not working for STATE file > >Date: Fri, 17 Jun 2005 05:59:05 -0700 > > > >You want "MA" to look up "MASSACHUSETTS" only, or "CA" to look up > only > >"CALIFORNIA". > > > >Here is a way to make lookups on the STATE File do what you want: > > > >S ^DD(5,.01,7.5)="I X?2U,$O(^DIC(5,""C"",X,0)) S X=""`""_$O(^(0))" > > > >This is actually documented at: > >http://www.hardhats.org/fileman/pm/gfs_frm.htm > > > >--George Timson > > Berkeley "CA" > > > > > > > > > >------------------------------------------------------- > >SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration > Strategies > >from IBM.
