Greg,

I think that Alric from codeweavers said something about there not
being the equivilent of "always on top" in the linux windows manager. 
Something that would cause such a problem.  I think we encountered it
a bit when we were working last conference.

But on my wine linux CPRS, I do not have problems with the splash
screen staying in front.
