Stephen; Funny you should ask... We are much of the same mind. VistA has been implemented in a number of foreign locals (some successful and some not). Those that failed to thrive failed to establish a local support community around the technology. Community is what we are attempting to build here in advance of the introduction of the technology. You are right in time. The technology and more documentation than you can shake a stick at is available, and a community of helpful folks out here to help encourage you on. Most of the folks you will make contact with here were where you are now just a few months ago. There are a lot of long time veterans of this technology and the underlying MUMPS technology also in attendance. Be aware that VistA is a lot of different aspects of the hospital as well as being a tool kit for building new application areas built upon the aspects already in place. It also means that you can extend those aspects beyond their current borders to solve problems which seem specific to your situation. We would hope that you might return those innovations to WorldVistA so that we might expand our release by the enhancements you develop. We are working this week-end to put together a new release and begin setting up a patch stream so that existing configurations can benefit from new enhancements without a complete reload. Best wishes and welcome to the community; Chris Richardson [email protected] wrote: Hello, Stephen here from waaayyy down south - NZ. I'm venturing into unknown territory a little here but it seems that this is the only(?) place to ask. I see huge potential in using VistA as the foundation of an open-source, country-specific, integrated hospital Patient Management System and GP Practice Management System. Who can I talk to about this? I see that most of the names keep cropping up wherever I go so I'm assuming that I'm in more-or-less the right place now... Am I in the right place to pose these sorts of questions? If not, could you please point me in the right direction?
