Most of the time I get the 3 piece Y that you get below. In this one case Y = -1 and I cannot figure out why. It happens that I am setting
DIC(0)="LX"
and
X= the value of the new .01 field.

I am trying Greg's suggestion. I am not sure I fully understand the FDA Root and the IEN root.

I'm not following you. Here is an example of it working. Perhaps
LAYGO is disabled on the file/field you are working on?

GTM>set DIC=22702
GTM>set DIC(0)="AEQML"
GTM>d ^DIC

Select TMG CHANGE LOG DESCRIPTION: ?
Answer with TMG CHANGE LOG DESCRIPTION
Do you want the entire 32-Entry TMG CHANGE LOG List? n (No)
Select TMG CHANGE LOG DESCRIPTION: KillThis
Are you adding 'KillThis' as a new TMG CHANGE LOG (the 33RD)? No// y (Yes)
GTM>w Y

Does anyone have any ideas how to find out relatively quickly the reason why
a D ^DIC fails when DIC(0)["L"
Perhaps someone can tell me where in the Fileman code to check what is
happening in debug mode. Any other ideas would be helpful.
