OK, lets say my Drug file (50) has 200 unwanted ZZDRUGNAME entries.
So I did a search for these and stored them in a set. (search template)
I circumvented the DEL nodes so I can delete the records.
Now I want to delete all 200 of these records and point them all to
one entry that says ZZ_DELETED_DRUG.
When I use the ^LOOP feature to stuff a @ into the .01 field, it
doesn't give me an option to repoint them to my specified record.

Besides, I think that anything that can be done through the console
should be do-able from a program without having to stand on one's
head.

If you know which IENs correspond to bad pointers, then you just delete the corresponding field values. My preferred method is to use the DBS API, but it can be done in Classic Fileman, too. There's no need to bother with ^LOOP unless you want to avoid writing code.
