Not being especially familiar with this portion of VistA, I can't give
you a specific answer, but if an option is audited, then there is
indeed a file containing a log of attempts to invoke that option. You
can also look at auditing at the file level, but for what you're doing,
you should really be looking at auditing of options, not files/fields.
In fact, the basic model in VistA is that all work is done through
options (including RPCs). The discussion on this list gives something
of a false impression of how VistA is used in "real life" because
everyone is working with some level of privileged access (Fileman
access or programmer access) and the focus has been on configuration
and development rather day to day operations. On a real system, users
would not even be able to look up patient information through Fileman
(unless that permission had specifically been granted them), and they
would do ALL their work through invocation of options.
