Ever the pessimist, my concern is that a mouse activated character
based interface isn't likely to play well. People want real GUIs with
windows and quality graphics, not just the ability to use a mouse. Yes,
I know it's a psychological thing, and we can protest that such a
desire makes no sense (to us, anyway). But I'm afraid that the answer
to "See, you can use a mouse" is going to be "Good grief! Is that all
you have to offer? Surely you can do better than that!" I'm not sure I
can even tell you why, but my gut level reaction to the possibility of
using a mouse with a character based interface is not a positive one. I
don't mean to minimize the ingenuity and cleverness of such a tool. I
just have a hunch that it will backfire and increase, rather than
decrease, the degree to which people have a negative view of VistA.
