I agree on using common terminology. When we say flavor/distribution/etc, I think most people will understand that you mean a "thing" that came from a specific organization. It would be nice to have... well.... taxonomy standards (for lack of a better term).

If so, I think my other question has been answered.At any rate, it would be nice (in my opinion) to have some kind of standard terminology here. I suspect that one big reason that there isn't is that there is a hope for convergence, and an (unspoken?) fear that having separate names would make this convergence less likely.
