It's a tough call. You have +200MHz base clock, +300MHz max turbo clock, +1MB cache, and +50MHz graphics turbo clock.
In all, not much difference. I don't expect there's a huge difference in power and heat - most of the chip's life will be spent at downclocked level anyway. If it was HyperThreading vs not or was QC vs DC, it'd be a no-brainer upgrade. As is, I don't think it sufficiently justifies the extra $150. That said, if you have the money to burn, it's clearly the faster choice. -----Original Message----- From: Hardware [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Winterlight Sent: Saturday, April 18, 2015 8:10 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [H] Laptop recommendations Greg, the Spectre 360 has two CPU choices. I thought all I5 and I7 were quad cores but I guess not ... IntelR CoreT i5-5200U with Intel HD Graphics 5500 (2.2 GHz, 3 MB cache, 2 cores) IntelR CoreT i7-5500U with Intel HD Graphics 5500 (2.4 GHz, 4 MB cache, 2 cores) I am all for getting the fastest available CPU but faster also means more power, more heat, and less battery time. So is there much difference between these two besides the name? m >At that screen size, unless you have superhuman vision, you're probably >going to have to run with scaling.
