Actually I liked this excerpt of a review any better. "I would love to see
"The Jerico Mile" remade today as a major motion picture, though I cannot
imagine an actor giving as good a performance as Strauss. Everything clicks
perfectly in "The Jerico Mile." It is a poetic, inspirational achievement,
marked by excellent visuals, terrific supporting performances, the fluid
direction of Mann, and the stunning performance of Strauss. This is a true
television classic, deserving of rediscovery and a quality DVD release."

There were a number of things that I really liked about the movie - The cons
at Folsom actually were hired to build the track. Strauss is a psychological
mess except when he is running, but when he runs he becomes totally driven.
I can't remember a movie where someone's drive to accomplish one goal is so
well depicted. Maybe it was his sense of release, either way, if it comes up
on your local program not a bad couple hours to spend.

Subject: [H] OT Movie - Jericho Mile

Very few movies do I watch a second or more times. Been hankering to watch
the Jericho Mile again though. Netflix didn't have it so I searched on
Amazon. Here it was a made for TV. movie only available on VHS. What
surprised me was it was rated 5 stars so obviously I am not the only one who
enjoyed this drama. What's really amazing is that I could remember the name
of it after all this time. - Oh well, have to wait till I see it come up on
TV again.
