How about the approach some wealthy people take? They buy a new car every 2 years and have ALL repairs and maintenance done by their car dealer.
If all would do the same with computers there would be no need for these self help lists. All would turn to their computer manufacturer for all repairs and support etc. Nobody would break the sacred Microsoft laws and most would buy a new computer every two years like the wealthy buy a new car every two years. Microsoft would be as happy as the big car manufacturers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I am convinced. In 999 out of 1000 instances in my county that a home computer is no longer useable without major repairs, it gets replaced by a new computer. Seldom is a computer actually repaired.
