I'd estimate you're only using about 34 W to 42 W. (58 - 40)*C / (0.43*C/W) = 42 W (58 - 40)*C / (0.53*C/W) = 34 W
Depends on whether 58C is CPU die temp or CPU case temp - you don't say. _jim -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Winterlight Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 6:22 PM To: The Hardware List Subject: RE: [H] Thermal Resistance ?? >So, if the Tspec you are quoting is CPU case temperature, you may already be >borderline with the P4 3.0. No, the figures I am quoting are from the manufactures Specifications Sheet This is the 3.0 processor I am using http://processorfinder.intel.com/scripts/details.asp?sSpec=SL6WU&ProcFam=483 &PkgType=ALL&SysBusSpd=6107&CorSpd=ALL However, that CPU is currently running at 58C And the the case temp is currently 40C The 3.4 CPU I am going to buy http://processorfinder.intel.com/scripts/details.asp?sSpec=SL7KD&ProcFam=483 &PkgType=ALL&SysBusSpd=6107&CorSpd=ALL And here is the Spire that I am using now. >I say, "No Way" that the Spire will cool a P4 3.4P within CPU case spec or >CPU die spec. Well, I am confused now so I guess I will have to ask Spire. You just wouldn't think it would be that much difference between a 3.4 and a Prescott 3.4 thanks
