Anti-A64 hype! No way an overclocked PM could compete clock for clock with an Athlon 64 FX (Power consumption on such an old architecture is a given!)! No surprise there!

Let me see if I have this straight, a glorified PIII die shrink taking on an Althon FX? WTF is Tom thinking? Rubbish! @:|>

Asus has released an adaptor that allows a Pentium M (Intel's designated mobile CPU for laptops) to plug into certain i865 and i875 motherboards. Take a look at what a Pentium M can do when it's on a more level playing field - and notice the power consumption.

The Pentium M is the latest incarnation of the 10 year old Pentium Pro design, it closely mimics the last PIII die (Tualatin) which in turn was tweaked up version of the original PIII which was a teaked up version of the PII which was a tweaked up version of the PPro :)

Is there a point for the P4 to exist at all anymore? And how inept are the P4/netburst engineers for making a glorified space heater that consumes more power after a die shrink?
