Bobby, Hayes, Winterlight, Harry,
Thanks for the thoughts and links. Have a Belkin F6C350 used for switches
and modems. It is always the first to go dead.
Oddly enough, when I physically moved the ups to the workbench and plugged
it back in, the chirps stopped. The only real difference is that now the
ups in getting AC via a different circuit breaker. I suppose I might have
a weak breaker. The BIL came by and tested the load factor circuits. Says
the battery seems to be good, but will order me a new one (at cost) to be
safe. Never did hear it chirp again. Really weird. It may have been some
mechanical business with the case. I'll let the ups run on the bench for a
week just to be sure (and to further test my sanity ...) :)

I have a APC 900 that chirps when it tests it self, and when it voltage
modulates. The chirps appear to be random, and yes, I think it is
annoying. I have switched to Belkin UPS.... they are cheaper, very nice,
and more value for the money.
Best,
Duncan
