G'day list,

I have a Gigabyte 8KNXP motherboard with a TI firewire controller built in.

I use it fairly often to hook up an external HDD with no problems.

But my son bought his video camera over on the weekend and wanted to dump a
couple of DV tapes to the hard drive.
No problem, I thought, hooked up the camera with a firewire 4pin > 6pin cable.
Loaded up 'Power Director' video editing, it saw the camera and we could
control the camera, as expected.
But when we tried to capture the contents of the tape as a DV-AVI, the software
immediately reported an 'error' (no details, just 'an error has occurred' ) and
the t/f is dropped.
Same thing in Moviemaker.

Device manager shows no problems, and as the driver used is the standard XP
driver, I'm not where else to look to track the problem down.

Any thought?

Thanks
