We had 3 Windows 2003 servers flake out in the last 2 days. no updates done, no patches, no nothing, just during a normal reboot they hung at applying computer settings.

When we unplugged the ethernet we were able to log in, but things like IIS, PCAnywhere, SQL Server were not starting properly.

The solution was to disable the APC monitoring software.

Hope this can help someone.
