The only people that write reviews are the ones that are unhappy & the
ones that are happy don't write anything as they usually have better
things to do, see any manufacturer's hardware newsgroup. I contend based
on my previous statement that neither was a majority as it only takes 2 or
more people to make up a consensus. There are tons of things that a
consensus could be reached about. ;-) I'm sure in Ohio we could reach a
consensus on what the heck a buckeye is but that doesn't make it correct
or the majority opinion besides I grew up in the 60's & I revolt against
most everything even today. <lol>
While this argument may have partial validity with regard to the "few
screaming unhappy customers" aspect, it has absolutely NO bearing at all on
controlled, side-by-side tests which the same data is burned by the same
burners at the same speed, and scanned by the same software and tested for
compatibility on the same drives by the same person. I'm sure that most
people had no problems with their IBM Deskstar 75GXP and 60GXP drives, but
that doesn't mean they were good or reliable. The general consensus is very
valuable data, but yes, it must also be filtered against some common sense.
There is certainly media that is worse than the Ritek G04/G05, but there is
also most definitely media that is better.
Either way, there is -no- question that the Ritek RW and DL media are
absolute shit. I wouldn't trust it to back up YOUR deleted spam email.
