The funny part about this is that the molex power connector is actually more reliable than the SATA power connector...sure, you don't have the hotswap capability, but at least it won't come out when you look at it funny.

I have never liked adapters such as USB cards, Molar to SATA etc. I have used them in some applications, but critical things like powering a SATA hard drive etc. I take very seriously. It agree it may be overkill, but best to be safe than to take a risk. If out of ignorance I err on the side of caution, it may cost a little more, but I can sleep at night knowing it will work.
