If the hard drive installs in another system, then it is the original system
that is knackered. Memory or I/O I would guess.

Subject: [H] Extracting profile from a dead Windows XP installation

Hi guys,

long story:

mainboard dies
replace mainboard with identical mainboard machine bluescreens during bootup
in an entirely non-helpful way do repair installation of XP SP2; no change,
still bluescreens put harddisk in an entirely different machine with a
different chipset, do another repair install of windows, no change

What. the. hell.

Suggestions?

the data on the disk is intact, but that windows install has utterly borked
itself to FUBAR status, is there an easy/semi-easy way to transfer the
profiles across to another install (which I've done and
works) on the same disk

yes yes, I know, take backups...
:(

help plz.
