I need some advice.
My Asus A7V333 and XP1700 blue screens several times daily ever since my Antec
power supply blew up, since replaced with a Tru Power 430 W. I am told it is a system
board error, RAM, CPU-possibly heat related. Added two more fans in the Antec 630
case. Obviously this system is outdated anyway, although it has been quite adequate
for my needs.
What would be a good CPU/motherboard combo such that I could reuse my two PATA
Seagate hard drives in Raid 1. If possible, I would also like to reuse my AGP video
card-Radeon 9500. I am not a gamer, but would like to have possible upgrade paths. I
could see using a PCI Raid card with my old drives so that eventually I could upgrade
to SATA drives. I would need another PCI slot for my modem.
I don't know if I need dual core, at least not now. I rely totally on voice-recognition
software to run the computer. I use CAD a lot and onboard sound. The AGP slot
seems to be the hard requirement to fill.
Any suggestions?
