I generally agree with you; they should be allowed to wear the dress. But
there is a reason why those kind of moves often go unnoticed.. no matter
what the faith.

RC Nuns in many countries are prohibited from wearing full attire in several
countries.

Traditional Jewish attire is forbidden in numerous countries world wide.
(In fact, try wearing a traditional Hasidic Jewish attire in many countries.
In fact, wearing a gartel in many areas is enough to get you.. in some
serious trouble.

The same goes for other faiths around the world; traditional required
religious wear for Hindis, due to metallic general garb attire violates most
airplane guidelines.

And so forth.

I agree a national rule prohibiting scarfs is somewhat ridiculous, and is
oppressive.

Well I am not saying they should be forced to wear scarfs. But it should
be a womens choice if she wants to wear it or not. Not allowing someone
to wear it is JUST AS BAD as forcing someone to wear it.

Or one could argue that not being forced to wear head scarves is an
improvement. Women can go to university in Turkey. Getting rid of
the head scarf is the first step if getting rid of the stupid
trappings of the religion. Repeat after me: God doesn't care what
you wear on your head. I'm all for spirituality. It's the bullshit
traditions that make things a mess.
