I'm not if the problem is people doing shady things. I don't lock my front door, but I'd still be pretty pissed if you walked in without invitation and got a drink of water or used my phone to make a local call. Yes, using an open network doesn't add to the owner's cost, but if they haven't invited you to use it, then you have no business being there.
