The Cheapest upgrade would be an A64 3000+ OEM:

While I like the idea of adding memory, it is not worth it on this
board, no reason to by PC3200 right now.

If a memory upgrade is needed, go with an AM2 board/chip/memory set, and
move this board/chip/memory to another system.
