That's because they substituted one Beta-blocker for another Beta-
blocker. Did they actually think you would react differently ?

Metoprolol is generic for Lopressor and Labetalol is generic for
Normodyne.

Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and generic for Zestril. It is a
pretty good drug (not that it's automatically good for everyone).

I'm deathly allergic to ACE inhibitors as they make my throat swell up & block my airway completely. I've tried all the specific beta blockers but the only one that works is the general beta blocker, Inderal [propananol hydrochloride] & I take 40mg 30 min before eating so as to keep my insulin production down & my blood sugar up. Originally it helped with my HBP & migraines but it doesn't work any more. I've been on Oxycontin for pain mgmt of the migraines & Dilaudid [HydroMorphone] for the break thru pain for the past 3 yrs. My cardiologist did NOT even look at the history of the various drugs that I've tried as he put me on water pills which I've tried before. They work for a week or 2 & that's it. I'm also allergic to Cardizem which is calcium blocker as that almost killed me years ago stopping my heart requiring an injection of adrenalin. My doc wanted me to try another calcium blocker, Norvasc at it's lowest dosage that is not suppose to affect the heart directly but rather like Gary's relaxes the arterial walls but I'm having a real hard time with the dizziness which is not surprising with all the other meds I'm on.

Ever think what we are actually taking when all those chemicals are mixed together.............??
