Seems to me that being able to get the antenna up in the air clear of
obstructions (with a USB box, for example) would offer the greatest chance
of at good connectivity. Those PCI units with the attached antennas means
that it's hidden behind your mostly metal PC. The proximity of the antenna
to the metal might cause problems, as well is the overall location of the
PC. This little USB box would allow one to put the antenna up in the air
away from the PC and perhaps with a little better chance of keeping/getting
strong signal.
