ignore it? nope, I'm planning on getting it replaced (my comment
below about seagate customer service was me reading stories of people
having their disks sit at seagate for multiple weeks before getting
replaced--we'll see, I'm hopeful!).

I totally agree that one drive is not at all statistically or
otherwise significant.
What I do think is significant is that a lot of other people seem
to have this same type of failure--with no warning signs, the
almost "beeping" noise, and occurring right around 8 months.
A number of people have indicated that seagate customer service
isn't that hot either, so I'll see how that goes.
I had no problems with the drive before this, but this was enough :-)
